Saiko Hartman
A quiet and precocious young girl, Saiko possess the ability known as psychometry, which allows her to peer deep into the psyche, past and future of anyone she touches. In addition to this, her psychometry grants her a host of other powers enabling her to escape from some of the more touchy situations she finds herself in. She has a good heart that she follows with a childlike innocence, though it ultimately leads her down the darker pathways of Illusion City. Unravelling the mysteries of both her own powers and the city¡¯s denizens will prove to be much, much more than she bargained for.
Miguel Hernandez
Though he may have a seemingly adorable and innocent exterior at the start, Miguel shapes up to be something far different than just that. An errand boy for the local mafia, Miguel dips into the unsavory side of life, and does so with relish. He's tough, capable with his fists, and has a cold intelligence that puts off all but Saiko. His heart is an open book to Saiko, and it seems that only she is capable of breaking down his tough exterior. He remains stalwartly devoted to her as they grow ever closer.
Dario
Miguel's cousin Dario comes from a family that's fallen upon hard times. Jealous, spiteful and distrusting of Miguel, he is surprised when he brings someone like Saiko to their family's home. Whether it is out of the moments they share together, or his own intrinsically good heart, he falls for Saiko and remains faithful to her throughout their time together. Dario is clever and kind, but lacks the same self-confidence and self-assuredness that Miguel possesses.
Pedro
Pedro is Dario's little brother and generally can be seen tagging along with Dario wherever he might go. He has little-to-no drive of his own, and relies heavily upon Dario for everything. He is simple and kind, and welcomes Saiko with open arms and an open heart.
John Hartman
John Hartman is Saiko's father, and a very loving one at that. He dotes upon his daughter and tries to give her the best childhood he can. John knows about Saiko's special abilities, but the extent of his knowledge is unclear.

Fun With Psychometry in Three Easy Steps...

Illusion City, Illusion City, Illusion City... what can I say about it? It's kind of funny, I really didn't want to get into it'I felt like Saiko was sort of this goody-two-shoes, preachy girl who imposed her opinions on others. And, while that's not entirely untrue, it somehow works. The entire premise of the story is actually a pretty awesome one; the whole concept of psychometry is intriguing, and the way it plays out so subtly is definitely one of the highlights. I'm not sure if there are actually any set boundaries to what psychometry can achieve, but the imaginative ways that it gets her and others out of bad situations is well done. After I got past the two introductory stories, and the real plot thread started emerging, I actually have begun to enjoy the story line. There is definitely much intrigue and mystique behind the story, and I'm rather pleased with the way things panned out. Though I can't say I'm a huge fan of the racial stereotyping, I suppose I have to laude the author for at least interspersing different ethnicities instead of creating just a static, 'white' America; having a latino (Miguel) as a supporting character was definitely nice, though in the grand scheme of things he was ultimately just another thug. Overall, I did enjoy the read though, and I believe it's worthwhile to give a look-see, especially if you're looking for some kind of thriller/scifi/intrigue-ish story.
Saiko, Miguel just saved you and Dario from a fate worse than death and THIS is the moment you choose to chastise him for being involved in the mafia?! You're an idiot and I hope your stupid, judgmental a** dies in the next chapter!
Also, this constant whining that you can't trust people because you can no longer read their minds is annoying. Welcome to the real world, b*t*h. Now, you're just like the rest of us. Deal with it.
At some point, this story is realistic except for the psyc part. I'm just dying to find out what's gonna happen next!
And oh, I love Sunseaukoe's comments! Your funny as heck!
