Is this desire for freedom the very thing that entrapped us.
Let Dai is a tragic tale of forbidden love and unforgivable betrayal. Set in a soulless neo-Seoul ruled by young punks and pleasure seekers, an amoral teenager named Dai is the living embodiment of the city's beauty and cruelty. As the leader of the vicious Furies gang, Dai seduces everyone who lays eyes on him, only to blind them to his own barbaric nature. When an honest schoolboy named Jaehee rescues a beautiful girl from being mugged by the Furies, he can't possibly realize how this brief encounter will plunge him into a downward spiral of unbridled passion and unfathomable pain. From his brutal gang initiation to an unspeakable act committed against his girlfriend, Jaehee wavers uncomfortably between revulsion and fascination. And in Dai he finds a tender, caring friend one moment and a heartless sociopath the next, awakening strange and unhealthy desires in Jaehee that he could never before have imagined.

Could've been better...

I really love this series. The author presented a very dark yet admirable love story. Dai is actually my favorite character - the way he sees the world and his methods of dealing with it were all understandable in such a way that I could say that he and I are two sides of the same coin.

There were a lot of redundancy and parts that the story could've done without. I personally didn't care too much for Eun Hyung. Her sense of justice was annoying (though I did grow to understand her) and all of her actions were so immature, so selfish, that in the end, I was glad she died. The older sister, Yoo Neun was even more annoying. Not once did I care for her character. Especially toward the end where she selfishly asks Yooi to abandon his own brother because of a promise that should not have been used at such a critical time. Couldn't she have just taken his keys instead of this "it's me or him" deal?

Naru's infatuation/love with Eun Hyung was not very well developed. The poor guy knew practically nothing about her to feel so strongly about her in the first place, therefore, rendering all his love efforts toward her pointless.

So in a nutshell, I thought the wonderful author should've left out a lot of crap and saved me some time, saved some paper, saved her cramped hands, and saved her characters the heart-aches. The only captivating couple in it were the main characters and that was how it was in the end anyway.

I have a lot to say about this series but I better stop here before I make some people unhappy. For those who disagree with me... sorry :D

Also, I gave this series a 4 out of 5 stars because it held too much unneccessary drama and characters.

great!!

I also agree with twent47blue! Jaehee is the only person who could recognized Dai no matter what! He would never confuse Dai with another guy. Even if this one looked like dai he would never have his aura!
i thought the ending was very good... "there's is no such thing as an end" for Dai and jaehee! and we can be sure they found each other. I don't think we need a new volume. It would spoil everything!

Doujinshi???
Timberwolf    08/22/08 15:23
Could we get a doujinshi uploaded up here on Netcomics to show us how they found each other in America and how happy they are and cuddly and lovey dovey with each other?? We want some more lover like moments. :)
