DON JUAN
A lady's man just like his name, Don Juan is the #1 target the patients avoid due to his extremely high surgery failure.

DR. WOONG-DAM
As the head of the surgical department, Dr. Woong-dam motivates Dr. Don Juan with encouraging words. But when it comes to difficult or important surgeries, he doesn't get involved. He often exhibits his disgraceful self by looking out for himself only.

NURSE O
Eunjoo O is an old male nurse with a cruel and impetuous personality. No one in the hospital, or outside in fact, can defy his violence. Nurse O is the oldest staff member who began working at the hospital since its establishment.

GALGOO CHOI
Galgoo was a hoodlum working as a runner for a night club until Nurse O drags him to the Madtown Hospital. He gets a corpse cleaning side job and meets(?) a corpse to whom he shows great respect. For some strange reason, Galgoo becomes obssessed with the corpse.

FLOWER SHOP BACHELOR
He is the guy from the bachelor shop in front of the hospital. He falls in love with the screwball Dr. Kang and volunteers in her medical experiments to win her heart.

THE MASTER HEALER
Also known as the master healer, Namgoong Yoon once was a doctor who possessed the best medical skills in the entire medical field. But a small medical accident leaves him with guilty conscience and hurt pride. He becomes a recluse cripple, but comes around the hospital area once a while and demonstrates his techniques.

NURSE KIM
Nurse Joona Kim is one of the very few people with "sane" personalities at the Madtown Hospital. Both her hobby and special skills are nursing.

DR. KANG
Yoohee is a femal doctor who enjoys unique medical experiments. She becomes out-going when she sees a patient, but she is frighteningly cold to the people or things that don't interest her. Although she possesses a weird personality, because of her exceptional beauty the flower shop bachelor and Goo fall in love with her.

DR. BAE
Dr. Hoil Bae is a psychiatrist who always walks around with a puppet. But the secret of the puppet--that it's actually Dr. Bae--gets revealed, and the identity of the man who carries around the puppet becomes a mystery.

GOO KIM
Goo is the second in command in the Madtown gang. A violent fight takes place between Goo and Nurse O, and Goo is thrown into an unused well in the hospital's basement. While he meditates inside the well, he experiences an unexplained mysterious force.

CORPSE
This character is just another corpse in the morgue for a lab experiment until Galgoo finds him by chance and takes exceptional care of him. But the Madtown Hospital gets thrown into disarray when the identity of the corpse gets revealed.

GYUNGWAN RYOO
Gyungwan is a doctor at the surgical department of the Cemetary Hospital: Madtown hospital's rival. He becomes Don Juan's rival and tries to show off the superiority of his medical skills to Don Juan at every chance he gets.

JTK Since his debut in 1988, JTK is said to have created a genre of his own, namely "JTK comedy." His debute work is the winner of the prestigious "New Artist Award" in the cartoon area. He is also the recipient of the "2002 Comics Readers Grand Prize" awarded by the netizens. Regarded often as the representative work of the author, Madtown Hospital commands many die hard fans of young and old. From the Author A hospital stands on the border line between life and death. It is where doctors engage in life-and-death battles to prolong the lives of those who are on the brink of death. That is why people find hospitals with the belief that their illnesses will be cured. But I hope you avoid the Madtown Hospital at any cost. The moment you step inside the Madtown Hospital, your fate will be dragged into an unpredictable chaos. If you are ill, whether from a minor illness or serious illness, I hope you go to a hospital other than the Madtown Hospital.

Hope you never get sick, because this place will probably leave you worse than when you showed up. A surgeon with a mortality rate topping nearly 100%, a tough-as-nails, face-slapping, pile-driving grunt of a male nurse, a ventriloquist psychiatrist, and street barkers turned interns who hide corpses and lure people in off the street for treatment; the patients aren't much less bizarre-- Hellraiser's Pinhead, mob bosses and victims of killer attacking bamboo plants just for starters. If you're a fan of over-the-top laughs, this'll make your sides hurt. It's a Korean medical comedy with one great bedside manner. Read it because: You have a fear of hospitals and want to get over it. Wait-- this'll just make it worse! -Jim Dewey, Play Magazine From sublime to ridiculous seems to be the way with these comics. MADTOWN HOSPITAL falls closer to the other category. You really can't take much of it seriously but then it is meant to be a comedy. The nature of the humor tends to be on the dark side. I would classify it as something like a mix of SCRUBS and the ADDAMS FAMILY, sort of. The action takes place in the Madtown Hospital; the name should clue you that this is not a normal place. The flower vendor outside has a crush on a female doctor who for some reason is always in need of blood for her patients, and they all have type A blood. She has a hard time finding enough until the flower guy gets treated for a cut and reveals he has that type blood. From that point on there is a running gag of her draining his blood, even while dragging him around the place. Dr. Don Juan has a near perfect record in the operating room. It seems all of his patients of late have died on the table. He goes a bit crazy and gets to see the head of Psychiatric medicine, who talks through a puppet. A male nurse is a bit gruff and can become violent. He has a running battle with the second in command of the mob to the point where he throws him in a well for safekeeping. Meanwhile the mob boss is getting a tattoo removed by Dr. Don Juan and, oh well. The lovely super-model turned nurse doesn't make it past page 12, the victim of he high-tech transportation tube they all slide through to get to the operating room. It goes on and on. The subplots are somewhat self-contained in individual chapters while some run through the whole book. There are secrets from World War two about plants that attack and a nifty parody of FANTASTIC VOYAGE wraps it up this time around. Some of it is a bit corny and most of it is hilarious. Again the art makes it happen as the emphasis is placed on the action with changing styles. There are just too many bits to catalog in a review. It is a pleasant diversion from the usual fare. -David LeBlanc, Editor, Comic Book Network Electronic Magazine

So funny! Those cheeks! On the first page I felt as if I should be squirting milk out of my nose with out even drinking any first! (was that an odd statement?) I can't wait to read all there is. I've already called my friends and demanded that they try it out. But as a fun fact--not all RH A blood types look like that. My dad had that type of blood and his nose was much bigger :P

"Mad Town Hospital" is one of those comics that once I start reading, I can't stop!!! Great humor with an element of truth in it. If you're not into the genre of ornate art work and sappy love stories, this is the comic for you!

Madtown Hospital is a crazy and yes wacky comedic spin of ER. Zany characters abound with plentiful laughs and over-the-top humor. While it seems that some of the jokes were "lost in translation," the humor is ever present as you read through this laugh-out-loud humor emanating from the pages! Mad spoofs had me reeling, and I thoroughly enjoyed the first volume! Can't wait to read more!
